A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

He defended 4 early chances in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
