Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Dawn' for New York City in First Speech
During an inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reinvent” America's largest city, ushering in “a different age” and an audacious start to his administration.
A Groundbreaking Figure
The new political star, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.
